304L stainless steel is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel, a variant of 304 stainless steel. Its main feature is that it has stronger resistance to intergranular corrosion during welding or stress release, while retaining the strength, corrosion resistance and good processing properties of 304 stainless steel. Due to its low carbon content (≤0.03%), it can effectively prevent intergranular corrosion cracks in the welding area even without heat treatment.
Chemical Composition
C % | Si % | Mn % | P % | S % | Ni % | Cr % | N % |
0.030 | 0.75 | 2.00 | 0.045 | 0.030 | 8.00-12.00 | 17.50-19.50 | 0.10 |
Application
Pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers
Food processing equipment, dairy equipment
Chemical containers, piping systems
Medical equipment, pharmaceutical equipment
Marine engineering components
Welded structural parts, especially thick plates or weld areas where corrosion resistance is required
